In Defense of Man of Steel’s Portrayal of Superman

From even before its release because of Rotten Tomatoes reviews, to the day of its release because of Superman snapping Zod’s neck, all the way to today, because its portrayal of Superman “isn’t Superman,” Man of Steel has been never been short of controversy. Save for its pre-production days, this Superman reboot and DC Cinematic Universe kickstart, has split the internet into two with said controversy.  (more…)

The Greatness of Vegeta

Note: My opinions, analysis, and even proof in this piece came from years of adoring Dragon Ball. The manga, anime, video games, etc. Thing is, I’ve based my opinions mostly on what I’ve read in the Viz translated version of the manga. The means that I could have perceived some of his dialogue in a much different way than you. Fans that can read the original Japanese version may even think I’m wrong, but that’s okay. At the end of the day, we don’t think the same. So chances are that I might have come to certain conclusions regardless. I also think it’s fair to give shout-out to Kanzenshuu and Uber Hikari. I use Kanzenshuu for literally all of my Dragon Ball needs, and it seems to be the only website I trust for it nowadays. I’ve also lost dozens of hours lurking through their forums full of unique and out-of-the-box opinions and thoughts regarding many aspects of the Dragon Ball franchise. I owe a lot of what I know about the series to Kanzenshuu. And finally, Uber Hikari. He’s one of my favorite YouTubers, and I find his analysis and insight on characters, plot, and just the world in general extremely fascinating. He’s taught me a lot about literature and was one of the inspirations for this article. I literally listen to him talk for hours at a time, considering many of his videos break the hour mark. Anyways, this article has been a long time coming, so let’s get to it. (more…)

My Japanese Journey (Kanji 1-26)

About a week ago, I was inspired to start learning Japanese again. As you may know if you follow me on Twitter, I just got done reading the Dragon Ball manga again. I loved it as much as the first time, but immediately noticed that the translations were starting to affect my enjoyment of it. I found the first 16 volumes to be fine, but once it got to the Dragon Ball we all know and love, it got REALLY weird. (more…)

The Androids Saga Is the Pinnacle of Dragon Ball Z

I’ll never forget my first time reading through the Dragon Ball series. I didn’t grow up watching it on Toonami, rather, I ended up getting to enjoy the entire series in manga form. Something not many people have been able to experience. I had no clue that Freeza was spelled differently, Kuririn was Krillin, and that the Genki-Dama was known as a Spirit Bomb. I came in free of judgement, and it was the most fun I ever had reading a manga. All thanks to the pinnacle of Dragon Ball Z, the Androids Saga. (more…)

Texans Start Season 2-0… Again

NFL: Oakland Raiders at Houston Texans

A year ago Texans fans rejoiced as they beat the divisional rival Titans. We were 2-0 and off to a, albeit pick-six filled, good start. Defense stepped up when they needed to, and offense did their best to keep up with our opponents. Little did we know what kind of pain and trauma was ahead of us. The Texans headed into Baltimore, hoping to get a win over the defending Super Bowl champs, who obviously were not the team they had been the previous year. To put it simply, we got kicked in the faces, punched in the gut, straight-up blown out. Thus beginning the 2-14 nightmare. (more…)

Why The Houston Texans Need Johnny Football

After a tough loss to New England during the Divisional 2013 playoffs, the people of Houston expected nothing short of a Super Bowl run for the succeeding season. Little did they know, that the only thing coming was a train wreck. Schaub, a mediocre quarterback riding on the shoulders of a good running game and excellent defense, finally got exposed. It proved to be too much. Game after game, interception after interception, it was clear that Schaub was losing confidence, with the entire team to follow suit.  The loss against the Seahawks where Schaub was in position to close the game, yet threw a pick-six to Richard Sherman to ensure the Seahawks’ victory, was the turning point. The fans, and team knew that this season would not be like the previous two. With Arian Foster out and our defense deteriorating, this season was quickly out of reach. Although, Case Keenum did spark some excitement back up, he ultimately never won us a game. The Texans ended 2-14 and we knew change was coming. It did come, but it could be bigger. (more…)

Patriots Vs Broncos Thoughts

Broncos D has to show up like they did the last week. Stop the run, at least get some kind of pressure on Brady, unless you want him to throw all over you. Harris is out so Brady will have a good to great game. Broncos have to shut down either the run or pass game. Ideally, both, but we know that won’t happen. The last thing the Broncos want is Brady destroying their secondary while Blount runs all over that D line (with no von miller). Broncos HAVE to keep Brady, and Blount from getting those 3rd downs that keep Manning off the field. It’s ok that they fell apart last week against Rivers, but this is Brady, he will massacre them if that happens this game. (more…)
